Looking for the next big thing on the housing market? Somewhere to live that is ‘new-age’, easy and effective on the environment, as well as pleasing to the public? Check out these UFO unsinkable homes on the water, which may soon become an option for many home buyers. Technology increasingly advances as new designs are implemented and unparalleled new methods of living become commonplace. This is just one example many currently underway.
One boating startup company known as Jet Capsule is currently developing a prototype model of the UFO houseboat structure, the future of aquatic living.
To begin, two fiberglass domes interlock around a 41-foot deck to help support the structure from sinking or slipping underwater. This deck being used as either a porch, garden area, exercise track, sun deck, or whatever the homeowner wishes it to be.
To keep the structure fully operational, the UFO will have solar panels installed, though would also be compatible to operate off generated wind or water power as well.
For survival, the UFO home would collect rainwater or even desalinate seawater in order to provide fresh drinking water to its inhabitants, as well as the vegetable garden or various other vegetation able to be grown on its surface.
The interior of the first floor is about 215 square feet, whereas the lower underwater level adds an additional 107 square feet to the home, an interesting area where inhabitants can observe the aquatic life beneath the ocean’s surface.
Yet aside from being non-sinkable, these homes aren’t entirely immovable. They can be propelled at around 3.5 knots due to its underwater motor via jet propeller. To keep the UFO in place when not in motion, an elastic anchor system keeps it from moving, as well as an internal compass that helps keep it oriented on a fixed view.
In time, perhaps we’ll see more of these water-inspired homes popping up along the sea. Beings as Earth is made of more water than it is of land, there is an exceeding amount of room to house the growing population of Earth’s inhabitants. How about you? Would you rather live in a home on land, on the water, or perhaps a bit of both? Let us know in the comments below! 🙂
