The future is pummeling toward us at 1000 miles a minute, with its newfound gadgets and next-level technology meeting us at every turn we take. From high-tech phones and devices, new inventions in regards to the health industry or living conditions, to tattoos that can power technology with the swipe of a finger!
Just as we embrace the current level of technology, the next wave is already in pre-production.
It’s a beautiful and exciting, yet daunting experience to be a part of. We should all feel lucky to bear witness to such a high degree of ingenuity that will only continue to expand as we age.
In particular, one such company known as DuoSkin is currently developing temporary tattoos that can become an on-screen interface for your phone or other electronic devices. The tattoos are made using gold-leaf, a harmless substance used in many decorations, or even with edible products such as vodka or as a garnish for chocolates. Gold-leaf is able to transfer heat signatures through the skin, which allows it to monitor body temperature or the trace of finger patterns.
Not to mention, gold-leaf is remarkable in appearance, being sold as temporary ‘flash’ tattoos that shine against the rays of the Sun. They make skin appear radiant and are a creative avenue for unique expression. LED lights can even be embedded for enhanced aesthetic appeal.
There are three types of these tech-tattoos currently being tested and produced;
1st Class: Input Device…
These tattoos are used to act as a tracking pad that connects to a phone, music player, or other electronic devices. They can work as many other user-interfaces would, allowing the user to swipe between apps, play games, or even as a controller to change the song on a playlist.
2nd Class: Output Device…
These tattoos act as a display, or as a technologically advanced ‘mood-ring’ type of tattoo. In essence, any of these decorative tattoos would change color based on your body temperature, or light up when the heart rate increases, thus showing emotion.
3rd Class: Communication Device…
These style of tattoos would act as data storage, allowing the user to input and store data, as well as accessing the data for future use by scanning the tattoo with a phone or other device.
The implications and possibilities of these tech-tattoos are nearly endless. They could greatly enhance the medical field, as well as replace many devices you may currently already use, such as heart rate monitor, pedometer, temperate thermometer, among many others. You would never have to lose or misplace your phone or fitness device ever again, as these tattoos may one day become a seamless, integral extension of who we are. Being as affordable and easy to acquire as walking into the nearest tattoo parlor and walking out with a high-quality, gold-leaf tech tattoo.
Consider one day when it may be possible to start your car, heat up the oven, turn on the water, or do any number of other tech-related functions, all by using your arm or leg as a controller, by swiping a tattoo. A tattoo that wouldn’t be triggered and accessed other than by your fingerprint only, no one else’s and by no other means of activation to ensure safety and security.
Would you get one? 🙂 ♥
