Today, everyone seems to be more concerned with their health. Maybe it is because we are becoming more aware of all the ways we can improve health, or perhaps it is because of our ultra-busy lives, we realize there are so many things we should be doing to better our health, but just don’t have time to do. However, we should always be thinking about health, and the best way to do that is to keep our immune system optimized. There are several things we can do to strengthen the immune system, and here are some easy tips you can do on a daily basis…
1. Nutrition Is Key
The way we boost our immune system and keep it at the optimum level is through the things we eat. Making healthy choices with food and drinks is the key to staying healthy, and there are several things we should be paying attention to. The first thing is balancing our diet: the body needs all sorts of different nutrients and we have to make sure our diet contains all of them.(1) Talk to your nutritionist and see what ways you can improve your diet to make it more balanced and healthy. You might not even be aware of some nutrients you are missing out on, and they could easily be added to your diet by making small changes that won’t affect existing habits and won’t alter the taste of food.
2. Meal Prepping
We all lead busy lives and it sometimes seems near-impossible to have a healthy, home-cooked meal every day. This is why the skill of meal prepping – cooking in bulk on free days and storing the food for several days – has gained popularity all over the world. The concept is simple: during the weekend, or whenever you have the most time, prepare cooked meals for the upcoming week and then simply take a meal every day and reheat it if needed for a fresh, nutritious meal that you prepared yourself and know exactly what’s in it. The most important thing is to prepare only the ingredients that can be stored for a minimum of four days, and have a high-quality Bosch refrigerator to store the food so it doesn’t go bad.(2) You can prepare even more in advance, but make sure you freeze it if you are storing anything for more than five days. You can prepare everything, from breakfast burritos, on-the-go practical lunches, pre-cut fruit for snacks and healthy dinners. There are a lot of recipes and inspiration you can find online, so why not give it a go?
3. Other Ways To Boost Immunity
Food, of course, is not the only way to boost immunity and it alone is not enough to keep us healthy. For one thing, staying properly hydrated is just as important and we should all do our best to drink the minimum of 8 cups of water every day. Keep a water bottle with you at all times, and if you think water tastes boring, chop up some fruit and throw it in the bottle to infuse the taste.
Physical activity is another thing that should be high on the list of things to keep us healthy. There is no need to splurge on expensive gym memberships or keep up rigorous exercise regimes. Simply going to work by bike rather than the car, or getting off the bus a few stops earlier and walking is a good start. You can also try using stairs whenever you can instead of elevators and do some yoga or simple stretches each morning.
The last, but definitely not the least important thing is getting some fresh air.(3) We spend our lives indoors, in cars or surrounded by toxic fumes from vehicles. It’s important to give your lungs some fresh air, so try to take walks, visit local parks or at the very least, vent out the space you’re in often.
Doing these few things will greatly help you with boosting your immune system, but you should also check with your GP about how often you should have regular check-ups and what other things you can do to help yourself. ♥
